Tessa says "When topics are taboo and shrouded in mystery, this breeds misinformation especially in young people
As we all know teenagers can and do have sex. It is important for students to have access to accurate, age-appropriate information about their bodies and relationships before they enter this part of their life
The research proves equipping young people with this information, may avoid unpleasant sexual experience
Young people should be proud of their bodies and its functions and feelings, but we also don’t want to make topics or situations seem bigger than they are
These programs reduce the stigma attached to sexuality as being shameful and to be silenced"
Since graduating from the University of the Sunshine Coast with her second degree
Tessa has been working as a supply teacher on the Fraser and Sunshine Coast, she has supported over 100 schools both state and private and has taught several times at the special schools
As a supply teacher Tessa found that she did not get a lot of job satisfaction, and that the main area she encountered was behaviour management
Tessa wanted to develop her skills and conduct more explicit teaching, and following the mandate by the Queensland Education Minister to make sexual and relationships education a mandatory part of the curiculm
Her business developed with input from students, parents, teachers, school principals and Principal Project Officers at ACARA
